  Farmer Partnerships

Central to PSIL’s corporate philosophy is the concern for farming communities. Naturally, we are actively involved in a symbiotic relationship with the farming communities located around our manufacturing complex. Our Corporate Social Responsibility stems from our founder’s philosophy to give dignity to the farmers who are the lifeline of our units. We also strongly believe that a contented and well informed farmer can give us better quality input – sugarcane, and give the benefits back to the community.

Farm to Factory – Cane Development Programme
We offer proactive agricultural extension services to farmers. PSIL's effective partnership with the farmer community extends from plantations to factory and beyond.
Agri-services of PSIL include
  • Introduction of improved agricultural practices during season for cane farming
  • Introduction of improved sugarcane varieties procured from research centers for better yields
  • Organising educational tours for farmers to factories
  • Arranging periodical interactive technical workshops by agricultural scientists for better farming practices
  • Demonstration at cane farms in the zone
  • Drip irrigation for better productivity and efficiency
  • Poly bag and SIRI method of Nursery cultivation
Comprehensive agri-support services
Apart from direct assistance at the farm level, PSIL offers several support services – financial as well as infrastructural to the needy farmers...
  • Providing subsidized agricultural loans
  • Offering need-based assistance such as arranging skilled harvesting labour during season
  • Improving the rural road network for efficient transportation of the inputs and the produce
  • Arranging transport from field to factory along with low cost bullock carts on loan basis
PSIL has been successful in raising the sugarcane yield per acre from an initial 18 tonnes per acre to 30 tonnes per acre. There has also been an increased cane yield from 70,000 MT to 600,000 MTin a short span of seven years.
